Caryl W

caryl2Caryl was born at Kingston Jubilee lying-in, early education at Whitfield Town Primary after a brief stint at Branch. I remember lying in bed late on many Friday and Saturday nights, listening to the steel horns pelting out the treble then the bass cutting in, from the different sound systems at the various dances in the Maxfield Ave/ Rousseau Rd area.

I remember the walks home from school … when you would stop outside the different bars and Ice Cream parlors on Maxfield Ave. listening to tunes from the different jukeboxes. Who can forget the music coming from the Rediffusion! Later in life there were Merritone and Tommy McCook among other that really educated me musically. Herman Chinloy and Record plaza were my favorite haunts. We really started serious collecting when we got to NY meeting Paul and a host of NY Collectors.
