DJ Skru

dj skruCourtney S. Baxter (DJ Skru) was exposed to various types of music at a young age by watching and admiring his father and uncle play music. They played artists such as Alton Ellis, Ken Booth, Delroy Wilson, and Bob Marley and fostered his appreciation for the music industry.
His career as a DJ began at age 9, when he started playing his father’s records in the garage for his friends, family and neighbors. At age 15 he obtained a summer job and purchased his first vinyl LP/album from VP Records in New York, then began collecting records. Three years later, he was able to save enough money to purchase his first Technics turntable set including speakers and microphone.  This gave him the opportunity to display his love for music at private events. Even though he wasn’t paid, he was thrilled or the exposure.
By 1985, he expanded his music collection to include Lover’s Rock, DJ Music, and Slow Jams, which included artists like Beres Hammond, Super Cat, and Trevor Sparks. Currently DJ Skru owns a mobile DJ company, “Musical Styles” which is available for all social and private events for all genres of music.  DJ Skru co-hosts the X Caliver show with Dorrel and can be heard every Friday night from 9 pm to midnight.
